CORDOVA U.S. Rep. Frank Kratovil, D-Md.-1st, commended farmers for their conservation efforts Tuesday at a Cordova farm, the first stop on his conservation tour in Talbot and Wicomico counties. Kratovil learned about conservation practices at Mark and Vicki Sump's 188-acre Dunmore Heath Farm, which won awards as the 2009 Talbot County Cooperators of the year and 2005 Century Farm. The Sumps grow corn, wheat and soybeans there and on an additional farm, along with a nursery operation with seven glass greenhouses. The farm also has three large poultry houses that house 90,000 chickens grown for Allen's.
